Ein monumentales Projekt in Tagen des Ausnahmezustands:
Am Karfreitag, 10. April 2020 wird in Kooperation von Rabenhof Theater und FM4 auf fm4.ORF.at die Marathonlesung des Romans „Die Pest“ des französischen Nobelpreisträgers Albert Camus gestreamt.
1947 verfasst, beschreibt der Roman den Ausbruch der Seuche in einer algerischen Küstenstadt. In fast schon dystopischer Präzision scheint „Die Pest“ die heutigen Entwicklungen in der Corona-Krise vorwegzunehmen.
120 Mitbürger*innen werden „Die Pest“ vorlesen. Die Videos ihrer Textpassagen ergeben dann zusammen eine rund 10-stündige Marathonlesung.

“What’s true of all the evils in the world is true of plague as well. It helps men to rise above themselves,” writes the narrator in Camus’ „La Peste“ (translated as „The Plague“ in Stuart Gilbert’s 1948 English translation).
The novel tells the story of an imaginary bout of bubonic plague hitting the Algerian coastal city of Oran in the 1940s, when it was still under French control.
