BEAUTY AND WISDOM IN FLEMISH POLYPHONY
Capilla Flamenca takes early music to the souls of today's people
Documentary by YVES GERVAIS (18'55'')

This short documentary film presents Capilla Flamenca, ensemble for Franco-Flemish polyphonic music from 1350 until 1600, in four video clips and two television broadcast clips. Artistic director Dirk Snellings explains how Capilla Flamenca succeeds in brushing the dust off music that was composed about 500 years ago, not by popularising the compositions, but by integrating this early music in every which way in our modern society. People today are very often 'touched' by music in the same way as people were in the fifteenth century. Through crispy-fresh video clips, contemporary settings, through high quality performances and recordings Capilla Flamenca's sound finds its way to the souls of today's people. This in its turn is accomplished through careful study and a Historically Informed Practice (HIP).

Franco-Flemish polyphony is part of our rich Flemish cultural heritage, to which the ensemble stays unmistakeably true.
